Communication through social networking has become an inseparable part of modern life online, and the most popular portals now boast tens of millions of regular users. According to a survey commissioned by Kaspersky Lab by Harris Interactive in February-March 2012, 56% of users in the U.S., Europe and Russia regularly visit social networking sites. The study involving almost 9 000 users from seven countries show that social networks are on the second place, second only to e-mail, in terms of ways of keeping in touch

Keep in mind that sites that are associated primarily with the fun and communication, are also its dark side. 27% of respondents indicated that they received a suspicious links and attachments in messages sent via social networking sites and e-mail. Most users are aware of the risks that may be associated with social networking sites - 55% of respondents stated that is aware of this problem. Almost the same percentage of users (56%) did not publish sensitive personal data such as telephone number or home address on its pages in social networks. 63% of respondents do not add people you do not know personally, one of their friends, while 68% rule, do not click links from people I had never heard of it.
